Policy Development and Advocacy

NBLCA conducts public policy, advocacy, and research on HIV/AIDS issues, mobilizing broad and diverse networks of faith leaders, civic organizations, national women’s organizations, and other community stakeholders. Our activities include training new policy leaders and advocates; providing technical assistance in policy to churches, community groups, and health departments; raising awareness about policy issues by disseminating information on the positions of public officials and candidates; and convening public forums that offer accurate information and an opportunity for open debate.

NBLCA’s core policy priorities include:

  • Black Clergy for the Elimination of HIV/AIDS Act
  • Affordable Care Act Implementation
  • HIV Criminalization
  • Comprehensive Sex Education
  • National HIV/AIDS Strategy Implementation
  • Routine HIV Testing
  • Women’s Health & Reproductive Rights
  • Harm Reduction/Syringe Exchange
  • Ryan White Care Reauthorization
