REPORTS

CDC Fact Sheet: HIV Among African Americans
While African Americans continue to face the most severe burden of HIV and AIDS of any racial/ethnic group in the nation, prevention efforts have helped lead to encouraging decreases in new diagnoses in recent years, driven by steep declines in new diagnoses among African American women in particular (42 percent decline from 2005 to 2014). After years of troubling increases, diagnoses also stabilized among African American gay and bisexual men between 2010 and 2014. Still, young black gay and bisexual men account for more new infections than any other group, and HIV continues to affect African American heterosexual women more than women of any other race or ethnicity

HIV: The Long View
A coalition of leading HIV/AIDS advocacy groups and stakeholder organizations, including NBLCA, created an evidence-based report that examines the potential implications of future healthcare trends on HIV care and management in the United States. Gilead Sciences is a partner and sponsor of the initiative. HIV: The Long View stresses the importance of advancing the HIV dialogue beyond viral suppression to focus on long-term goals that can help positively impact the health of people living with HIV over time, improve quality of life and reduce morbidity.
